American tenor, Thomas Michael Allen, was born in Chicago and pursued musical studies at the Manhattan School of Music in New York and the Britten-Pears School of Advanced Musical Studies in England. He won prizes in several international voice competitions, and made his opera debut in 1994 as Don Ottavio at the New Israeli Opera. Focused on Baroque repertoire Allen today is one of the most sought-after tenors worldwide and claims great success on the operatic stage as well as on the concert podium. He is estimated as a stylish and thrilling interpreter of the great operas, oratorios and cantatas from Bach and Beethoven to Britten, from Händel and Haydn to Mozart and Mendelssohn. Under the direction of conductors such as Marc Minkowski, René Jacobs, Kurt Masur, Michael Gielen, Gary Bertini, Manfred Honeck or Enoch zu Guttenberg he regularly appears in Berlin, Munich, Zurich, Paris, Lyon, Madrid and other musical centers. Beside classical genre roles his repertoire includes rarely performed works by Boismortier, Rameau or Paisiello. His CD recordings include works by Bach, Mozart and Reimann.
