American-born Fredrika Brillembourg grew up in New York City and studied music at Vassar College. After several years as ensemble member of the Bremen Theatre she made numerous successful appearances in Europe and abroad, including the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Dresden Semperoper, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Teatro Sao Carlos Lisaboa, the Basel Theatre, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and the Komische Oper Berlin. In summer 2004 she made her triumphant debut at the Festival in Aix-en-Provence with the world premiere of Toshio Hosokawa's opera "Hanjo". In the same production she guested in Brussels for the opening of the 2004/05 season. She has become one of the preferred partners of such acclaimed directors as Werner Schroeter and Christof Loy and collaborated with renowned conductors such as Antonio Pappano, Marc Albrecht, Sakari Oramo, Kazushi Ono, Armin Jordan, Christof Prick, Phillipe Auguin, Günter Neuhold, Daniel Harding and Helmuth Rilling. Amongst her preferred repertoire are roles like Carmen, Orphée, Octavian, Charlotte and Marguerite. In addition to her opera engagements, her concert activity also constitutes another focal point of her artistic career. Lieder recitals and orchestral concerts have taken her to Berlin, Munich, Torino, Birmingham, Toronto, Los Angeles and Caracas.
