Duisburg native Dr. Fabian Stallknecht gathered his first major experiences in the world of opera at the theatre of his native city. He began to undertake extensive trips to various European countries for opera visits and sightseeing during his school years. He also spent periods of study in Harrow, England, and Verona, Italy. In 1988 he moved to Munich in order to study theater arts, musicology, German literature and philosophy. He worked as a director's assistant at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf/Duisburg; among the directors he worked with are Thomas Schulte-Michels, Pet Halmen, Hellmuth Mathiasek and Kurt Horres. As Kurt Horres's personal assistant, he took part in the world-premiere production of Eckehard Mayer's opera "Sansibar" at the Schwetzingen Festival in 1992. He completed his studies in 1999 and obtained his PhD in theater arts. Since the mid 1990s, he has appeared in public as author and narrator in several music and theatre projects in conjunction with the soprano Georgine Montez, and has published scholarly articles on operas by Mozart, Bellini, Donizetti, Verdi and Reimann. Fabian Stallknecht speaks German, English and Italian. He has been working as Personal Manager at Sintow-Behrens International Promotions since May 2000.
