Between 1992 and 2004 he was principal conductor of the Städtische Bühnen Münster and has realized a number of ambitious and spectacular projects during his tenue; among them are the world premiere of Azio Corghi's "Divara" and a production of Wagner's "Der Ring des Nibelungen". Moreover, Will Humburg is regularly invited to work with important opera houses and orchestras, guest appearances took him to Rome, Florence, Catania, Palermo, Lisbon, Dresden, Stuttgart and Düsseldorf. In November 2000 he made his successful debut at Milan's La Scala with the world premiere of Azio Corghi's "Tat'jana". He maintains a close artistic partnership with Corghi; altogether Humburg premiered four of the composer's most important scores. Since 1990 Humburg has made several highly noted and award-winning opera recordings for Naxos. His recording of Verdi's "Falstaff" was given the "Record of the Month" award by "Gramophone" magazine.
