Francesca Patané comes from a famous Italian family of musicians and was born in Milan, as daughter of Giuseppe Patané. She studied at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. After a short career as model for several fashion stores, she took part in the Voci Verdiane competition and completed her studies with Carlo Bergonzi. She made her stage debut at the Teatro Regio in Turin in the title role of Cilea's "Adriana Lecouvreur" under Daniel Oren. Since then she has specialized in the great dramatic roles of the spinto repertoire. Besides Turandot, which she has sung in more than 400 performances, her preferred roles include Tosca, Minnie, Manon Lescaut, Abigaille or Lady Macbeth. Her repertoire also includes Strauss' Salome and selected roles from the Italian Verismo. Her vocal performance and artistic intensity make Francesca Patané a great interpreter of the dramatic repertoire. Guest performances took her to almost all of Italy's opera houses and festivals as well as to London, Berlin, Hamburg, Vienna, Rotterdam, Moscow, Budapest, Helsinki, New York, Chicago, Tokyo, Taipei and Rio de Janeiro. Due to her strong stage presence she is also a valued partner to renowned directors and conductors. She has made several CD and DVD recordings and regularly takes part in gala performances in Italy, Spain, Germany and the USA.
