Born in Israel, Shira Raz graduated cum laude from the Mannes College of Music in New York in 2002. During her studies she performed regularly in recitals, in festival and concerts in New York City. She also performed in a chamber music festival in Ernen, Switzerland. She graduated from the Israeli Opera's Opera Studio, where her repertoire includes Hansel in Hansel und Gretel (Humperdinck), Tisbe in La Cenerentola (Rossini) and the Second Lady in Die Zauberflote (Mozart). At the Israeli Opera Shira Raz sang Giovanna in Rigoletto (Verdi), Flora in La traviata (Verdi) directed by Franco Zeffirelli, the Second Lady in Die Zauberflote (Mozart) conducted by Dan Ettinger, Sesto (cover) in Giulio Cesare (Handel) and Dido in Dido and Aeneas (Purcell) in a special production of the Opera Studio in Israel and in Germany. Shira Raz performed Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart) with the Haifa Symphony Orchestra. She appeared in numerous concerts with the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion, The Israel Chamber Orchestra, The Ra'anana Symphonette Orchestra and others, as well as at the Abu Gosh Festival. She sang the alto part in Bach's Johannes Passion with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. Her recent repertory includes Dryade in Ariadne auf Naxos (Strauss), Marta and Pantelis in Mefistofele, Elijah by Mendelssohn, Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Siebel and Martha in Faust (Gounod), The seven deadly sins (Kurt Weil) and Mozart's Requiem with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra.
